A brick garage in Camberwell, South East London has sold for £550,000!

The 568 square feet double height garage sold for nearly triple the £200,000 guide price in a property auction run by autioneers Andrew Scott Robertson. This is the most expensive garage ever sold in the UK and it even beats the price of a garage in Knightsbridge sold last year for £525,000.

The property was previously the garage for the Mayor of Southwark’s car.

While the identity of the buyer is not known, it is suggested that it may be a wealthy artist who bought the property to save it from being turned into housing.  The buyer paid £150,000 more than the average £400,000 terraced house is worth in the area. We shall have to wait and see.  Whatever the story, the area is being more and more sought after.

The property is equidistant between Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye, both locations in which LuxuryDigs will be bringing you new studio, 1 and 2 bed homes to rent in the coming months.
